One of the best things we used to do prior to lockdown was go out for the day to historic houses and castles.  We’ve always been a family that enjoys exploring historic towns – our holidays wer always centred somewhere that offered a cathedral or at the very least, a lovely old church.  Then there’s the local manor house or large heritage estate with more visiting.  Apart from enjoying the history itself associated with these buildings, there are always shopping opportunities.  The chance to pick up items that are only available at the one location for example is the way we keep tabs on all the locations we’ve visited over the years.   I like to buy gifts for christmas and birthdays on the same theme and many a tea towel or location jigsaw has seen it’s way over to a relative.  Clothing and gifts are the choice way to enhance our day and help swell the coffers of the properties we enjoy.
